So what’s the point?

My goal here is to visit the small towns around Texas and meet the people who own the restaurants and shops that make this state great.  I will also share some recipes that I have adapted from my other travels as well as review the restaurants in my current hometown of Fort Worth. And there will be a spot for my random musings.

Here we go and in the words of Pat Green “Baby’s just a little bit tired of the city” and it’s time to hit some back roads on the weekends.  Take a ride with me from the wide open spaces of West Texas to the East Texas Piney woods and then on to the rolling hills of Central Texas — and anywhere and everywhere in between (except maybe the panhandle – sorry).

(This is where my tech-saviness should wow you with the the video for Pat Green’s “Carry On.”  Obviously I haven’t quite made it to that chapter. Thank you for your patience).

Post numero uno

I’ve been a little hesitant about starting a blog for a few reasons.  The main reason being that I have no idea how the internets work and as I was sitting in a coffee shop reading over and over how easy wordpress is to install and having absolutely no idea how to install it despite having also purchased “Blogging for Dummies,” I started to get extremely frustrated.  After 10 minutes of that, I gave up until I could find a geek tech-loving friend.

The next night, having still not procured a tech-loving friend, I picked up my copy of “Blogging for Dummies” and started at chapter one.  As it turns out, there are two versions of wordpress ya’ll!!  And one is much easier to understand than the other.  So now i’m up and running on the “hosted” version and am reminded once again the importance of starting at the beginning of the instructions.  I guess when you purchase “Blogging for Dummies” you really shouldn’t fancy yourself so smart that you can skip the first 4 chapters.  Whatever.

So here goes nothing.  Hello blog world (or according to “Blogging for Dummies” “blogosphere”), my name is Ashley and I like to shop, eat and ROAD TRIP!!!

(Sidenote: I’d like to point out that I know titles of books should be underlined and not italicized, but I can’t figure out how to do that on here).
